HERT Course Overview

Our Helideck Emergency Response Team (HERT) training is CAAM-authorised, focusing on developing operational competency through a combination of theory, scenario-based learning, and full-scale practical exercises in a span of three (3) days. The training consists of theory classes, practical sessions, and assessments using actual-size helideck mockups and a 1:1 scale helicopter model, and emergency response equipment to ensure realistic offshore conditions.


Participants will learn how to:

  • Understand helideck emergency response roles and responsibilities
  • Respond to helicopter fire, crash, or abnormal situations
  • Familiarise and operate helideck firefighting systems and extinguishing equipment
  • Conduct casualty handling, evacuation, and survivor assistance
  • Perform helideck emergency communications and reporting procedures

Participants will receive a certificate of competency upon successfully passing both theory practical competency evaluations (both assessments are compliant with CAAM-approved standards and industry best practices).

  • Helideck Assistant (HDA) candidates

  • Possess a valid HLO or HDA certification
  • Experience in offshore operations and helideck duties
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English (training is discussion-driven)
