About Helicopter Landing Officer Course

Total Avantgarde's Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) Course is a CAAM-approved aviation training programme designed for offshore helicopter operations in Malaysia. Delivered by experienced offshore helicopter pilots, this industry-recognised HLO training combines 2.5 days of theory and practical instruction on a full-size helideck and 1:1 AW139 helicopter mock-up. Participants will learn how to:

  • Manage daily helideck operations in accordance with offshore aviation standards
  • Oversee safe helicopter arrivals and departures
  • Supervise Helideck Assistants and coordinate team responsibilities
  • Conduct pre / post-landing checks, deck readiness inspections and hazard identification
  • Ensure compliance with CAAM procedures and operator-specific aviation requirements
  • Lead the initial response during helicopter emergencies

Participants will receive a certificate of competency upon successfully passing both theory & practical competency evaluations (both assessments are compliant with CAAM-approved standards and industry best practices).

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • At least two (2) years of experience as a Helideck Assistant (HDA)
  • Adequate proficiency in English
