About Helideck Assistant Course

Total Avantgarde’s Helideck Assistant (HDA) course focuses on building practical competency, delivered through a combination of structured theory and practical exercises conducted on our full-size helideck and 1:1 AW139 helicopter mock-ups. These purpose-built facilities replicate real offshore conditions, enabling participants to practice actual operational procedures, communication, team coordination and emergency response.


Participants will learn how to:

  • Assist HLO during helicopter arrivals and departures
  • Handle cargo, baggage, and helicopter equipment safely
  • Assist HLO in initial response during helicopter emergencies

Participants receive a certificate of competency upon successfully passing both theory practical competency evaluations (both assessments are compliant with CAAM-approved standards and industry best practices).

This course is ideal for:

  • Offshore facilities crew involved in helicopter operations
  • New personnel assigned to helideck duties with offshore experience
  • HSE and Focal Points supporting helicopter operations
  • Helideck Emergency Response Team (HERT) members

COURSE Duration:

Two (2) Days.

COURSE VALIDITY:

Two (2) years.

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Valid medical & offshore training certificates
  • At least one (1) year of offshore experience
  • Adequate proficiency in English
